THE STORY SO FAR

Batdorf & Bronson began in Olympia, Washington in 1986, founded by Dick Batdorf and Shannon Bronson with a simple but powerful vision: to roast exceptional coffee with care, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to community. As Olympia’s first specialty coffee roaster, the brand quickly earned a loyal following.

Just two years later, another local coffee pioneer emerged—Larry and Cherie Challain opened Dancing Goats Espresso, proudly serving Batdorf & Bronson coffee. That partnership marked the beginning of a decades-long legacy. In 1988, the Challains purchased Batdorf & Bronson, eventually expanding operations to Atlanta and championing industry-leading sustainability practices. In 2022, the company rebranded as Dancing Goats Coffee, and in 2023, it was acquired by Kaldi’s Coffee of St. Louis.

COMING HOME

In 2024, Dillanos Coffee Roasters—just a short drive from Olympia—welcomed the West Coast side of the brand back home. Honoring its rich roots and timeless appeal, we proudly brought back the Batdorf & Bronson name.

This isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a return. A return to the Pacific Northwest. A return to the values that built the brand. And most of all, a return to the people who have always believed in it.

If you’ve loved Dancing Goats Coffee, you’ll find everything you cherished still here: the same blends, the same care, and the same commitment to excellence.
