ROASTER'S NOTES:

This coffee comes to us from the family of Dr. Jorge Vides. In 1958, Dr. Vides purchased land and established a farm in the area of Libertad, Huehuetenango.

After years of hard work and dedication, the fruits of his labor were realized in the form of some incredible high-quality coffees.

In 1984 the Guatemalan government agronomy support organization (ANACAFE) awarded Dr. Vides the “outstanding coffee grower” award. Dr. Vides passed away in 1995, but his coffee and family legacy continue.

Since his passing, the family business has grown to not only include the original farm called La Bolsa (“The Pocket”), but also El Rincon (“The Corner”) and this smaller farm called Las Terrazas (“Terraces”).

PRODUCTION NOTES:

The farms cultivate many varieties of coffee, ranging from Caturra to Geisha.

This particular San Ramon variety is a mutation of a Bourbon that originated in Brazil. The San Ramon variety is believed to be the parent of the current Pacas variety, which is extremely popular in Honduras and El Salvador, and is known for both its high yield and exceptional cup quality.

CUP CHARACTERISTICS:

This fully-washed and sun-dried coffee is clean and balanced, with a vibrant acidity. Although not as fruity as some cup profiles from Huehuetenango, there is a distinct ripe blackberry quality. The coffee is medium-bodied and has a long-lasting sugary finish.
